Tonight was a huge payoff for a lot of hard work. The 6c I.M.C.A. Sports Mod came to life. After a strong run at Quincy last Sunday evening, the question was, would the changes in the setup transfer over to the Lee County Speedway. The question got answered with a top ten finish.
The evening started poorly. In the heat race we started on the pole. The 6c slipped to the 5th position by the end of the second lap where the car eventually finished. The finish put the car in the 16th spot for the feature, a long way from the front.
As the checked fell in the feature, we moved up quickly to the 12th spot before the first caution fell. As the green flag waved again, we made our way through the field advancing three more spots. On the tenth lap another car came down on us coming out of turn two spinning the car. Making a 180 degree correction, the car was pointed toward turn three without bringing out the caution. On lap 12 the caution came out for the last time, catching the car up to the field.

After the Race |
The field was off and running again on lap twelve. Coming down the back stretch, the air filter came flying off the car and went thirty feet into the air. This was the only damage of the night for the 6c, a bent air filter base. (We will take that!!) The last three laps we were able to take back two positions lost in the spin on lap ten. This left us with a 9th place finish. The 6c car will be back at Donnelson this coming weekend to finish the May racing schedule.
