Friday evening started a full weekend of racing for the Cowman Racing 6c racing team. It was a hot and dry May evening. The track was black and dry slick from the very beginning. Starting on the pole of the heat race, I dropped back to the middle of the pack in the first couple of laps. Getting the car to turn through the corners proved to be a challenge. Finishing 5th in the heat race, we were left in the 14th starting position for the Feature.
The feature, with a strong 22-car field, started with one caution after another. It was difficult to get into a rhythm from lap to lap when the caution flew often. We were able to advance one position, but did not perform up to our potential. It was great to have Shane Wingerter cooking for us Friday night. It was an amazing meal!! Thanks, Buddy.

It was so hot and dry again on Sunday. We got to the track and worked at staying cool for the first hour. As the races approached, Austin Uppinghouse and I went out for hot laps. All things seemed to start going wrong at that point. We both had carburetor problems. My car was starving for fuel, whereas Austin's car was flooding. Randy wrenched on them both to get us ready for the heat race. As I was in staging for the heat race, the car stalled. We were pushed back to the pits and Randy again thrashed on the car. Whatever he did, it proved to be effective later. The carb problem placed us at the rear of the Feature.
The hot weather must have left people with short tempers and irractic driving skills. The feature was littered with caution flags. Tempers flared, cars were spinning all over the place, and tons of metal was bent. I was able to avoid several spins through out the Feature, on my way to a 9th place finish. We had a good night achieving our third top-ten finish in the last four races. I have provided a few pictures to capture the weekend.
