Another Racer to the Rescue

Life on the road!!
I wouldn't believe it, if it didn't happen. Another fellow racer came to the aid of Cowman racing on Friday night. This time it was Wes Mayfield. Mayfield, his wife, and Bobby Anders were on their way up to Donnelson to watch the races.

Timmy, Ron and I had jumped into the truck at our regular 4:30 departure. All seemed to be well.  We had just put in a refreshed engine and all of us had had a hard week. We were ready to go racing. Back to the story.

We crossed the Mississippi, headed up route 61 into Missouri. Just about at Canton, Missouri, we started to smell oil. Of course, we pulled off the side of the road. One of our worst fears was realized.... the oil lines on the truck had ruptured. So now what do we do? The first thing was to call my dad to see if we could use his truck. I immediately got ahold of my dad and he said he would come with his truck.
Ron hard at work!!
We unhooked the trailer and Timmy began to work on the truck. This is when Wes Mayfield pulls up. He offered to pull the car up to the races for us. We took about one minute to decide. Before we knew it, we were in the back of  Wes' s truck and on our way to Donnelson.

We got about five miles from the track when we received a text from Joe Blevin. It said, "cancelled".
It wasn't raining.  The ground was dry.  The sky didn't look like rain.  A quick call to Joe Blevin confirmed the text. We were turning around and heading home.

We got to know some racing friends a bit better. I am amazed how tight and helpful this group of people are. I have to say, I have been humbled as well as inspired over the last few weeks. We have two weeks left and then the regular season will be over.

Lots of drama, two hours in a truck and back home.
One lonely trailer
