We Will Overcome!

Sometimes life seems to be a series of mishaps, mistakes, challenges, and frustrations. Last Friday night could be described that way. After blowing an engine two weeks ago, we were ready to get back on the track. However, at the track we soon discovered that there were some bugs to be worked out...

The hot lap session helped us discover our first issue of the night. We fouled two plugs so the car was overloaded, causing power issues. Randy replaced the plugs and we were ready to go out for the heat races. The new engine outperformed the old one. This presented an issue for me as the driver. Coming faster into the corners caused the car to be very loose off. To make a long story short, I spun out, causing a yellow flag on the third lap of my heat. In dirt track racing, that means that you are pulling it in until the feature.
We kept working at it all night.
We started the feature in the 14th spot. The track was wide and racy. The car was good, but we could never find the right racing grove with our set-up. This left us trying lots of lines, but we never moved beyond 10th. We finished 12th, with not a lot to write home about...other than we broke into the top ten in track points for the year.
