Fans

"Fan", the word originated from fanatic. Racing does not have a shortage of fans. They come in all shapes and sizes. Old and young assemble at the track each Friday evening to cheer on their favorite drivers and to jeer the ones they dislike.
The Pryor concrete repair 6c outlaw hobby stock is not short of racing fans. We had the honor and privilege of entertaining guest fans in the pits this evening. Associate sponsor CEO of Abbey Carpet, Eric Butler and former chief cook of the 6c racing team, Shane Wingerter, visited us.

They arrived in style. Eric and Shane decided to travel in a 2003 Chrysler mini-van. Yes, equipped with everything a fan would need for a comfortable ride to the track. Once at the track, Wingerter and Butler made their way to the pits of racing great, Joe Bliven, a driver for Big R Motorsports, owned by Randy Uppinghouse. They were entertained by racing stories and fables.

Once the 6c team pulled up, their attention was directed to the outstanding crew that prepared the car for the races. You could tell they were mesmerized by the skill in which the team worked. As the races started, the boys made it to the racing trailer platform.

Some of the perks of being a fan of this team include, eating with the team members at the concession stand, leaning up against the car, standing on Timmy's toolbox to better see the races and easy assess to the men's bathroom across the staging area.

I could tell they were fully engaged with the team. I heard several pieces of advice throughout the evening. Pep talks about a positive attitude and affirmation as a driver. Shane and Eric both were by the car as I pulled out of the pits. Eric even once was able to pull my lap belt tighter from the passenger window. "Thanks Eric!"

The track was again heavy which is not my preferred racing surface. We were able to qualify for the feature for the third time out of four races. This put us in the second row of the feature, a good place to gain a top ten finish. The race was rather uneventful other then a loss of oil pressure throughout the race. We will have to figure that one out this weekend. We raced hard and finished 9th. Four weeks and four top tens, we'll take it.

I was told when I started racing to never eat peanuts in the pits and not to allow people to eat peanuts in your specific pits. Well you would never guess what the "fans" decided to bring into the pits to eat as a snack? You guessed it, shelled peanuts.

I would like to thank the fans for coming. They were an inspiration to us all. We invite all of you to join the fun at Lee County on Friday evenings. It is a time to be with friends, relaxing and enjoying some good ole dirt track racing.
